“Access to clean and safe water is the most fundamental of human needs. We all rely on tap water for drinking, cooking and washing and fluoride cannot be removed by house filtration or boiling. Consumers will therefore be denied choice. For any medical intervention informed and voluntary patient consent is necessary and so mandatory fluoridation represents a medical intervention given without consent.

Respect for private life, which includes bodily autonomy, is a protected human right. The fluoridation proposal will potentially violate this right and be susceptible to legal challenge under human rights jurisprudence including Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights.
